​Paige Hillegass is the founder of Bucky Dog.  She grew up in Alexandria, VA and lived in Virginia for the first 27 years of her life.  She went to Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA where she majored in Journalism and then Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN where she got her MBA with a dual concentration in Marketing and eCommerce.  

Paige's love of dogs started early in her childhood and the company is named after the 4 legged love of her life, Buck.  Paige worked at Verizon Wireless for 17 years, before trading in her cube for bunch of leashes.  At Vanderbilt and also at Verizon, Paige specialized in eCommerce and digital marketing.  Building this business and website has allowed Paige to combine two of her biggest passions - eCommerce and canines.

Paige now lives in Mill Valley with her daughter and her son.

Who We Are & What Makes Us Different
Bucky Dog is a service that matches dogs that need walking with people in the Marin community who are out exploring the trails, beaches and parks.  Bucky Dog strives to provide a unique experience (not simply a task checked off the list) much like Marin itself.

What's With the Name?
Most dog lovers have that one dog that they will forever remember and cherish.  Buck (called Bucky by most) was that dog for Paige, owner of Bucky Dog.  She got Buck right after her freshman year in college and he was by her side day and night for 16 years.  He went to class with Paige during her college days in VA.  Paige & Buck lived on the Maury River at that time with 3 friends who are still like sisters to her.  Buck would swim and play all day with the other (many) dogs that lived along the river.  When it was dark, he would come and push the back door open with his nose and crash until his next day... when he would start the routine all over again.
 
In 1998, Buck moved with Paige from Nashville, TN to San Francisco and they lived happily in a 3rd story apartment in Russian Hill. Buck walked down the aisle (just before Paige did) on her wedding day.  He lived until he was 16 in people years (way beyond the average life span of a Labrador retriever).  Paige said good-bye to Buck right after she found out that she was pregnant with her daughter.  It was almost as if this wise soul had held on to make sure that he saw Paige through that last struggle.  Then he was at peace to cross over the rainbow bridge and begin chasing tennis balls all over again.
